The Disneyland Resort area and Anaheim more generally have been undergoing a bit of a construction boom the last few years. What does this mean for families traveling to the area? More hotel choices!

While the hard hats paused some work in 2020 when Disneyland shut down, a lot of construction ultimately got done. Many new and updated properties are ready for Disneyland’s reopening or not long after. We are so excited about all these new hotel choices at Disneyland with Kids.

Here are 5 new hotels to add to your searches as you plan your 2021 Disneyland vacations, as well as 2 bonus hotels that opened in late 2019 and early 2020 you may have missed. Note that a few of them aren’t open for booking as of the date this post is published, but we expect our partners at Get Away Today will be offering bookings at all of them when opening dates are firm.

New Hotels at Disneyland in 2021

1. JW Marriott Anaheim Resort

While the Grand Californian sets the luxury hotel standard in the Disneyland area, there have not been any luxury off-property hotels in the immediate vicinity of the parks. That’s has now changed in a big way! The JW Marriott is one of Marriott’s most luxurious brands. This hotel is located within about a 15 minute walk of the parks, also nearby an ART stop. While we certainly expect the hotel to be expensive long term, it has a lot to offer for a hotel at this price point. Plus, there are some pretty impressive deals to be had now while the parks are at reduced capacity.

2. Westin Anaheim Resort

  • Location: 1030 West Katella
  • Opening Date: June 2021

Slated to open in June 2021, the Westin Anaheim Resort is taking the location on the corner of Katella and Disneyland Drive formerly occupied by the Anabella Hotel. This hotel will also offer a more luxurious full service hotel choice within walking distance of the parks. We especially love that the location will feed guests into the Downtown Disney security checkpoints, which often have much shorter lines that the checkpoints on Harbor Boulevard. And for anyone with Marriott Bonvoy points to spend, sit up and take notice.

3. Element Anaheim Resort Convention Center

  • Location: 1600 S. Clementine St.
  • Opening Date: June 2021

On the other side of Disneyland, another Marriott property will be opening in June 2021, the Element by Westin. This modern hotel has room types that work well for families, including a studio suite with a full kitchen and a kids suite with two bunk beds in a separate area.

It’s currently set as a Category 5 Marriott property (just like the Fairfield), so it could be a good value for visitors with Category 1-5 free night certificates that come with many Marriott credit cards.

4. Home2 Suites by Hilton Anaheim Resort & Hilton Garden Inn Anaheim Resort

As parents ourselves, we know how helpful suites accommodations can be for families on vacations. So we are very excited about another suites property that is coming within walking distance of Disneyland! The Home2 Suites – part of the Hilton brand – is primed to open any day now. The hotel will be located on the site of the former Quality Inn and Suites behind the Courtyard.

Co-located in the same building as the Home2Suites is a brand new Hilton Garden Inn as well. Offering traditional hotel rooms, this means travelers will have a wide variety of room types to choose from at this property at a variety of prices.

5. Radisson Blu Anaheim

  • Location: 1601 S Anaheim Blvd.

Chic and modern, the new Radisson Blu brings another more luxurious option to the Disneyland area. The hotel has two outdoor heated pools plus hot tubs – one on the main level with a splash pad for kids and one on the rooftop. Also up on the roof is Blu SkyBar, offering dinner and drinks with a view around several fire pits.

A number of the room types have bunk beds – perfect for families with kids who just can’t quite share a bed anymore. Rooms with 2 queens and 2 bunks can sleep up to 6! The hotel is located too far to walk for most, but an ART stop is nearby.

Did someone say water park? The Cambria Hotel & Suites has a 30,000 square foot outdoor water park that makes it a hot destinations for families. Room types are also incredibly family-friendly, with lots of suite options, including many rooms with bunk beds. The Cambria Hotel isn’t within walking distance of the parks, but it’s a short ART or Uber ride away.

7. SunCoast Park Hotel, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

  • Location: 1640 South Clementine Street

While not technically a new hotel, this was a hotel re-opening and re-branding worth a look. This property has been open since 2016 as the Country Inn & Suites (and has been one of our family-friendly faves), but it joined Hilton’s portfolio on December 15, 2019 after a renovation. Next door to the new Element by Westin, it’s also about a 15 minute walk from the Disneyland gates with additional ART service if your family prefers not to walk.
